Located in middle of the hustle and bustle of Jakarta, lies Kemang Village’s best kept culinary secret: Café Barbera. Originally, the café was established in 1870, in Italy. Even before you step into the café itself, you are embraced with the intense fragrance of freshly ground coffee. With coffee in the air and work off your mind, the café also offers a variety of menu sure to bring a piece of Italy to Indonesia.
You don’t have to be a coffee lover to enjoy Café Barbera as their selection of blended ice coffees are sure to surprise you. From classic Italiano coffee, to smoothies, shakes and floats, the café sure got it all. Beside the high-quality, authentic Italian coffee, Café Barbera showers their customers with a range of light and heavy meals using ingredients sourced from the best suppliers Jakarta has got to offer, from sandwiches, pastas and pizzas.
Their Salmon Aglio Olio Spaghetti is one of the fave dishes, this hearty dish does not only look and taste good, it’s healthy as well! Sprinkled with fresh parsley and parmesan, and topped with smoke slices of salmon fillets and sundried tomato, this dish is sure to bring your lunch to the next level.
To accompany your hearty meal, make sure to also order Affogato Cashew Nut. Definitely not your average coffee drink, this Affogato offers different layers of flavors, the classic Italian espresso, paired with the soft blend of caramel and chocolate, sprinkled with cashew nuts, surely made this drink an adventure of its own.
BOmagz also managed to taste the heavy Classic Beef Burger. But those wanting to share delightful pizza, try their Romana Pizza, paired with equally yummy Avocado Shake. As for the coffee, we recommend their Hot Cafe Latte and of course, can’t miss the dessert, can we? Especially the Chocolate Lava Cake!
So how did Café Barbera start?
“Café Barbera is a café chain specialized in their coffee from Italy since 1870. Our franchise for Café Barbera in Asia starts in Kuala Lumpur and the one in Jakarta is relatively new. We are here since about 4 years ago, back in 2012 and we only got 1 branch, which is this one in Kemang Village, whereas Kuala Lumpur has a few. “
What distinguishes Café Barbera from other cafes in Jakarta?
“Since Café Barbera specializes in their coffee from Italy, originally we only serve coffee. Then, throughout the years we see that our customers seek some food to accompany their coffee, so we start to differ from our franchise to provide high-quality meals.“
Next step for Café Barbera?
“We plan to rebrand Café Barbera through renovating the place and launch with a new name next February. We will come out with a fresh concept, ambience, vibe and also additional dishes for our menu such as platters, but we will still be using coffee from Café Barbera.”
